Slayer Were forced to cancel yesterday's scheduled appearance at the Soundwave Festival in Sydney, Australia just an hour before they were due onstage after frontman Tom Araya was taken into hospital. Although details of his condition have yet to be released, his wife Sandra Araya issued the following statement on her Facebook page:
"SPOKE WITH TOM =) He's feeling much better! it will be a few days before test results come back... That's all I can say for now! whoo hoo!" Whispers on the internet hinted at a "serious ear infection" being the reason he was hospitalised, but Sandra confirmed this to be untrue.
"Tom does not have a ear infection! Not sure who came up with this, but it is not true... They are waiting on test results... If [the ear-infection explanation] is coming from the promoter, I am sure only Saying He Is What He Was Told "
Soundwave promoter AJ Madda That Tom assures fans" will be okay "for the next leg of Soundwave on March 4th in Melbourne. We wish a speedy recovery HIM!
